Yogyakarta (13/09) – Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities FKKMK UGM held an reguler webinar Raboan Discussion Forum titled Bioethical Aspects in End of Life Care on Wednesday (13/09). The event, which was held online through the Zoom platform and broadcast live on YouTube, featured keynote speaker Ns. Wahyu Dewi Sulistyarini, M.SN, and moderated by Noviyanti Fahdilla, S.Tr.Keb, MPH.
In the discussion session that took place, Ns. Wahyu Dewi Sulistyarini discussed various crucial aspects in end-of-life care, including palliative care, end of life, symptom control, good death, and ethical approaches in end-of-life care. The speaker emphasized the complexity of ethical issues that are often faced in palliative care.
“Palliative care faces many complex ethical issues. End-of-life conditions are difficult moments for patients and families, especially when facing incurable diseases in a short time. The important role of palliative care is to ensure that patients achieve good death or death with dignity,” said Ns. Wahyu Dewi Sulistyarini.
In the context of end-of-life care, speakers also highlighted the need to focus on improving the quality of life of patients and families.
