Yogyakarta, (20/09) – Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities FKKMK UGM again presents an interesting and informative webinar event, Raboan Discussion Forum: Raboan International Collaboration on Wednesday (20/09). With the theme “Bioethics for Health and Environment: Religious Perspectives for the Common Good,” this event featured keynote speaker Prof. Dr. h.c. mult. Christoph Stückelberger, a leading figure in the field of bioethics, while moderated by Prof. Dr. Hari Kusnanto Josef, SU, Dr.PH.
The webinar, which was held online through the Zoom platform and also broadcast live on YouTube, aimed to open the door to discussion about bioethical challenges in health and the environment, viewed from a religious perspective. In his presentation, Prof. Stückelberger discussed several important topics, including Bioethical challenges for religion and interreligious cooperation, Typology of theological methodologies for bioethics, Christian/Islamic themes in bioethics, Welcome as guests on earth, Responsibility means to respond to god, Common good as a common framework, Globalance as a dynamic balance of values and virtuals, and Ethical principles for biotechnology.
Prof. Stückelberger emphasized that Indonesia has an interesting context, given the existence of Muslim communities that coexist with various other religions such as Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism, and Hinduism. “To make the bridge between these because when we talk about bioethics we need to incorporate all” he said.
Raboan Discussion Forum is a valuable platform to exchange ideas and deepen understanding of bioethics, especially in the context of health and the environment, so as to make a positive contribution to the development of an ethical and environmentally sound society.
